FLAP to include shuttle

On Tuesday, Dec. 8, a consortium of local agencies and non-profits, including TBCA, will submit an application to the Federal Lands Access Program for over $5 million in funding. One of the improvements requested for funding will be a Teton Pass shuttle system integrated with the upcoming Stilson transit center. TBCA’s experimental shuttle last winter demonstrated that there is indeed an interest and need. Stay tuned!

TBCA files objection on Snow King plan

TBCA reiterated its opposition to resort development on the back side of Snow King in a letter to the USFS this week, citing impacts on wildlife and backcountry skiing tradition.

Volunteer Ambassador Program

TBCA accepts applications for our Volunteer Winter Backcountry Ambassador program until December 10 each year. Selected Ambassadors will work at key locations to convey responsible recreation and safety information to users, provide basic area orientation, and assist visitors where needed.

Comment on Grand Targhee resort expansion scoping

Grand Targhee ski area is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement governing the expansion of the resort’s permit area into Teton Canyon. TBCA strongly opposes this expansion as it intrudes into important wildlife habitat, it has long been a backcountry ski area, and the area borders the wild winter backcountry resource of Teton Canyon and Jedediah Smith Wilderness.
